Developer Lake Union Partners (LUP) partnered with KIER Construction on a visionary adaptive reuse project centered on community, creativity, and a shared passion for outdoor recreation.

In collaboration with evo, a leading outdoor gear and apparel retailer, the team transformed the historic Salt Lake Rapid Transit Building into Campus SLC—a vibrant destination that unites retail, recreation, hospitality, and culture under one roof.

The campus spans 107,000 square-feet across several restored warehouse buildings from the 1890s, now home to the evo retail store, evo Hotel, All Together Skatepark, Salt Lake Bouldering Project, Level Nine Sports, an art gallery, and additional retail partners. This once-industrial block has been reimagined as a dynamic hub for outdoor enthusiasts and a model for the revitalization of Salt Lake City’s Granary District.

The design blends preservation and innovation, featuring a full seismic retrofit, refinished historic materials, new mezzanine spaces, and upgraded MEP systems. Inside, the hotel lobby offers a view into a 5,000-square-foot skatepark, while the lodge-inspired rooms are tucked into the building’s original rafters. A rooftop bar showcases panoramic views of the Granary’s industrial grit set against the Wasatch Mountains.

More than a renovation, the project celebrates the intersection of hospitality, culture, and activity—honoring the district’s heritage while shaping its next chapter.
