KIER construction modernized the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in the Dee Events Center facility to extend the life of the building for another 30 years. This included compliance with the University’s Master Plan of electrification using hybrid variable refrigerant volume systems (VRF) where applicable to reduce site emissions.
The project combined four fan rooms into two to service the arena, converted ancillary spaces to VRF, replaced plumbing, fire protection, lighting and electrical throughout the building. Additionally, a ground source geothermal bore field was installed.
The project aligns with WSU’s commitment to becoming carbon-neutral by 2040, following previous, award-winning energy efficiency improvements.
