After thirty-six years of leading KIER Construction, Steve and Scott Kier are retiring effective June 30, 2022.  Steve and Scott founded KIER Construction in 1986 and have both been pivotal in the development and success of the organization. Each has played a central role in propelling our brand and KIER’s strategic vision. Following their announcement, each plan to stay connected to the greater KIER community by continuing to serve on our Board of Directors as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively. It is with the utmost gratitude that we as a company say “THANK YOU” for 36 years of outstanding leadership and dedicated service!

Again, we cannot thank Steve and Scott enough for the dedication, passion, enthusiasm, and motivation they have given the KIER Construction family over the past thirty-six years. Together they have led KIER through tremendous growth and have created a legacy by enhancing every community in which we build. 

“Today I have stood among the tall trees and now I am taller.” Steve and Scott are the tallest of trees and it is with heart felt gratitude that we say thank you for making each of us taller. This is not goodbye, simply “see you around”

Clint Costley, the President of KIER Construction since 2018, will continue his role in leading the organization along with KIER’s Vice-President of Operations, Andrew Smith, and the rest of the Executive Team.

Crescent Communities, along with financial partner MAA, recently hosted the groundbreaking ceremony for the exciting new Novel Daybreak Apartments. KIER Construction is filling the role of General Contractor on this 400-unit multifamily community. Novel Daybreak will appeal to those who yearn for an active, dynamic and fun lifestyle with programming and amenities that will go beyond the typical residential experience along the Wasatch Front.

One of NOVEL Daybreak’s many features includes “The Hive,” which will serve as the central hub and gathering place. From a morning cup of coffee at Land of a Thousand Hills’ shop to a midday workout class, to board game and karaoke nights, residents – and their guests – will have an array of programming and amenities to fit their individual lifestyles. The community will also cater to residents who work from home with coworking-inspired spaces, indoor-outdoor lounges, and whole-building connectivity. This is going to be fun!

The Granary Campus is a creative new project focused on building community through a shared enthusiasm for outdoor recreation.  The construction involves a significant transformation of the historic Salt Lake Rapid Transit Building into Campus SLC, an historic masonry and timber warehouse building that supports an evo retail store, evo Hotel, All Together Skatepark, Salt Lake Bouldering Project, Level Nine Sports, an art gallery, and several other undisclosed retailers.  The project is a significant undertaking involving a full seismic retrofit of the buildings, refinish of all existing materials, integrating new structural mezzanine spaces, and new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

KIER is proud to announce the opening of the Taylorsville Liquor Store. This is Utah’s first liquor store  with refrigerated coolers. Clients can now grab a cold one as well as a variety of room temperature spirits. A gorgeous, wood planked umbrella ceiling tops a central showcase tower where connoisseurs and collectors can find the rare and more refined brands. This 13,600 sq ft facility is comprised of the retail space, storage, office, restrooms, employee lounge with kitchenette and shipping and loading docks. Let the celebrating begin! This little gem can be found just a few miles outside of the “Crown Jewel” of parks – Glacier National Park. Our KIER team was more than happy to head to beautiful Montana to build this fuel center for the Smith’s/Kroger chain. Cheers to our team on their outstanding performance!
